Nikon D70s picture quality

Hello everyone,

I need some help with understanding what has gone with my pictures. Apparently, none of the pictures I take seem to come out well. I just can't seem to understand what I am doing wrong. While I am no where near being an expert photographer, I used to take good pictures with the same kit. No it seems that none of the pictures seem to come out as good as before, which leaves me to believe that I have done something to the settings on the camera to cause this change.

I took some pictures in The Lakes district. Now that’s the kind of place anyone can point and shoot, and get award wining photographers. But here I am with a thousand pound worth equipment, and come out with some crap shots.

If anyone can help with what I need to do, I would be beholden to them for life.

Thanks

I think we need a little more detail as to what is wrong. Can you post some of the pictures you are talking about?

I think it is worth saying, altough I don't think you meant it in this way, that the cost of your kit has no bearing on the quality of the results you get. Check out the fortnightly assignment last year that was restricted to shots taken with compacts, and some of Markulous's camera phone pictures.

It's tough to say without seeing photos to refer to...

Re: Nikon D70s picture quality

Off the top of my head :-

- Autofocus switched to manual (shots out of focus)
- Autofocus area switched to off centre area (look at LCD on top) (only some shots out of focus)
- ISO rating upped to 1600 instead of auto or 100 (shots look very grainy)
- Shutter Priority set too low ( blurred pics)
- WB not set to Auto (some colours look wrong)

Best to show us a shot as suggested above

Re: Nikon D70s picture quality

Nikon did a camera software upgrade awhile back. You might give them a call and make sure you are using the right software version. I had to send my D70 back to the factory to get this handled.
