Nikon D80 Menu Settings

Hello, I am a Newbie,
Beginner and having problem with my camera menu. I cannot figure out how to change the settings in my Shooting menu for optimize image and white balance. When I arrow to the right a pop up menu appears with a message "this option is not available with current settings". Can someone can tell me how to set the camera to the default settings?
Thank you!
Stephanie

Re: Nikon D80 Menu Settings

welcome
and as for your question, you probably have your camera set to one of the scene modes, the ones with the little image like
Night Portrait
Night Landscape
Sports
Close-Up
Landscape
Portrait or Full Auto
those setting choose just about everything for you

you have to set it to one of the letters in the white stripe on the dial
M (Manual Mode)
A (Aperture Priority)
S (Shutter Priority)
P (Program)

to set the default settings just press the Exposure Compensation Button and the Autofocus Button you know wich one they are by finding the two green dots on the top side of your camera. ( the black and white square withe plus and minus and the AF buttons)
hope this helps
