Noise removal programmes
Just wondered who uses what for noise removal.....if any.
I've never used any of the programmes until this weekend, choosing to ride my look when it came to having to shoot at iso 1600 etc. This weekend I had to shoot at iso 3200 which resulted in quite a bit of noise but I purchased Noiseware Professional plugin and I must say I'm quite pleased with how well it dealt with the noise. I don't think I will worry too much if I have to use iso 3200 for web images anymore.........don't know what took me so long to get one of these programmes ![]() |

Re: Noise removal programmes
The only one I've tried was the Bibble Labs plug-in... I found the results interesting and useful. I'm probably going to buy it in the next few months, since it does quite a bit more than filter noise.
There's a free trial here... |

Re: Noise removal programmes
Noise Ninja, having tried most at one time or another. Being a lazy git I use it for every web submission - use it to just sharpen on 99% shots (but saves me using a seperate sharpening process). Like the control it gives you and I'm now very familiar with all aspects of it - and probably use the de-noising more with the Canon over the supposedly noisy Sigma!

Re: Noise removal programmes
The plugin is for CS3 same as Sotelo
All these images here were shot @ iso 3200 and obviously showed plenty of noise. With just one click the images cleaned up pretty well and are useable (to my eyes anyway ).I've not explored the software other than the default settings.......so any tips from you Noiseware Pro users ![]() |

Re: Noise removal programmes
What price are we talking for these programmes?.I use the noise remover in CS2 on scanned slides/negs and sometimes run it on skies on some shots from digital camera.
PS,can you buy them as a CD as opposed to downloading as i may/will be getting a new computer sometime or other. |

Re: Noise removal programmes
In the excitement I forgot how much I paid but it was under £40.00 just for the plugin.
At the checkout there was the option to include a back up CD £10.61 plus any applicable tax/VAT and shipping costs (I didn't bother with that but now wonder if I should have ). |

Re: Noise removal programmes
NN is $45 for home bundle of standalone and plug-in - £25
CD is a further $10 but all you need is the Reg info as you can download the application from their site (I email the Reg info to a web mail address so it's always available) |

Re: Noise removal programmes
I use Noise Ninja but only when needed. It works well but I find you need to turn down the automatic settings otherwise you lose fine detail. I prefer to keep noise low but retain the detail as far as possible.

Re: Noise removal programmes
The basic version of Noise Ninja is built into Bibble Pro and does the job for me. BP can use the registered version of NN if you have it.

Re: Noise removal programmes
I've been using Noiseware Pro for years (when necessary) and never really been tempted to review the alternatives as it's always done the job for me.

Re: Noise removal programmes
I use PURE IMAGE NR. Its an unlimited trial but it puts a very small logo (Pureimage) in the bottom right hand side of the picture which is easily removed by cloning out.
There's not many adjustments but you can set the overall "strength" and select the removal of Block Noise. It also displays Exif information of the picture. You can also choose the area of the magnified display of the picture and there is a split screen of before /after of the selected area. It does work very well. I hope this helps. |
