Not sure how to do this.
hello all
I have been shotting sports events then putting them on my web site. Well the good news is that some parents looked at the site and have asked me to provide them pictures of there kids and continue to do so through football season. My problem is I have now idea what to charge for these shots. As many of you know I am really new at this and any help would be great. Thanks in advance |

Re: Not sure how to do this.
It depends on what size they want them, I charge £8.00 for A5 £16,00 A4 and £32.00 for A3. Only a guide but hth

Re: Not sure how to do this.
I have a similar dilema in that a girl at work wants me to shoot her boy playing football., I am happy to go along to shoot for nothing as its good practice for me but i was wondering what to charge for prints.

Re: Not sure how to do this.
My charges are:
Mounted 10x8 - £12.50 Unmounted 10x8 - £10.50 Mounted 7x5 - £7.50 Unmounted - £6.00 Greetings Cards - £2.50 Mousemats - £11.00 Mugs - £12.00 Supply digital file - £7.50 (all purchasers are aware that I keep copyright). Also even if you sell 2/3 shots per year from your site, you must register as self employed with the Inland Revenue and fill in a tax return each year. They apparently scan the web for sites selling things like prints and you don't want to get caught out. Hope that helps. |

Re: Not sure how to do this.
A lot of local shooters by me use a site called highschoolsports.net to upload their photos. It's a site in the US that covers essentially every high school in the nation. There's a section called "The Bleachers" that allows you to upload images as a fan, enthusiast, or pro. The site takes a very small cut, and the profit is split between you and the schools that the image was uploaded for. It's about a three dollar return for each 4x6 sold that goes to the photographer.
I love it, since the profit the school receives is a rather big incentive for them to motivate their own students and the parents of those students to use the site for image purchases. Going to work with a high school football team this season to see just how well I can make it work for myself.
