Oh woe is me.

Sadly, I'm quite clumsy. On saturday, when out of a photography session with my mate, I managed to drop my camera. Not once, but twice!

The second drop broke my 18-55mm kit lens. The zoom ring only went from 55mm to about 50mm. Focus was fine as was aperture control. Just a broken zoom.

So I get back home, have a look at the lens and notice a big lump of plastic floating about inside. Oh joy.
I think to myself, 50 to replace the whole lens, might as well have a bash at fixing it.

2-3 hours later - my lens is back and working again. The aforementioned lump of plastic appears to have been important to the functioning of the zoom... funny that I think it stops the internal lens from moving too close to the middle lenses. Now that it's all back together it's working fine except a little stiffness going from 55->18mm. Especially at the "long" end.

Moral of the story?

Don't EVER let me near your camera

Re: Oh woe is me.

. Goes to show how tough the old Nikons are then. Now if you had dropped it once more you could have entered a shot of the damaged item for the "three" theme challenge

Glad to hear your all sorted & no you're not borrowing my lens

Re: Oh woe is me.

I am glad that you managed to get it fixed and working again but how ever did you manage to drop it twice?
