Re: old tripod query...

The Slik 88 is a very decent tripod - a bit heavy but pretty stable. I had a silver one which I sold on eBay a couple of years ago for about 35.

If you do a search there are a couple on eBay now, although the condition may not be as good as yours. The bid prices are still very low, but they have a while to run. If you keep an eye on them it may give some idea of value.

Re: old tripod query...

I think the best bet is to see what they are fetching on e-bay and price accordingly.

My Slik 88 must be around 30 years old - I think I paid about 25 for it! I'd guess that the latest equivalent will cost 80 - 120. Check out the specs and see if the new ones have any additional features than could influence the price.

Re: old tripod query...

GRAHAM, YOU MUST HAVE BOUGHT YOUR SLIK 88 ABOUT THE SAME TIME I BOUGHT
MINE. DID YOU BUY IT FROM THAT CAMERA SHOP IN LUTON, I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF IT BUT IT WAS IN THE TOWN CENTRE ON THE CORNER, BIG SHOP.

ANYWAY SLIK 88 WAS AND PROBABLY STILL ARE A VERY GOOD TRIPOD, IF IT IS MINT
AND BOXED I WOULD EXPECT YOU WOULD GET ABOUT 50 - 60.

UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE NOT GOT MINE ANYMORE, CAN'T THINK WHAT HAPPENED TO IT NOW.

Re: old tripod query...

I can't remember where I got it Woody

I do remember that shop tho'. It was behind the car park for the Arndale Centre and next to the Srathclyde Hotel. Not been down there for ages - I expect it is gone now. Proper camera shops can't compete with the internet.

The only one I can think of now is the one opposite the old Hoover factory. Between the town centre and Leagrave.

Put an ad in our Classifieds forum - Costs nothing and it might just do the trick.

There are just a few rules and guidelines for this forum here.

Good luck
