orbs
hello! glad to be here.
I do have a question. how do I get rid of these 'orbs' or semi-transparent white circles? I searched for a fix and oneperson said when they used clone stamp it looked pasted on. can you use a mask? or is eraser the best option?

Re: orbs
Welcome to pixalo Estancio
![]() I've moved your post to this forum as you are more likely to get answers here. Do you have more than one shot with the 'orb' in the same place? If not, it might be due to you using flash. If it is in the same place all of the time, it is probably dust. You do not say what camera you have, but I'd suggest cleaning the lens first and then if there is no improvement the sensor, but take great care not to damage anything. A blower and/or a very soft brush will clean the lens, but the sensor needs special treatment as it is easily damaged. Perhaps you can give us some more information.

Re: orbs
thanks for moving my thread. I accidentally psoted it twice.
I did have flash on and took this photo with a Sony DSC W70. This is the top left quarter of the photo. The full photo is three people close together at one small dining table; I took it from the back end of the table about three feet away. sunlight was behind me from a large glass sliding door- light drops off as you look farther into kitchen where 3 white circles are. |

Re: orbs
this is the only one of ten photos with these orbs -most of them are taken with the same background and perspective.

Re: orbs
No problem - I removed the duplicate thread to ensure all of the replies came to the same place.
The orb effects you describe are not unusual when taking flashlit pictures. Airbourne dust can cause this to happen. You will know if this is the case it the orbs are in different places in different shots, and not present in others - especially if you are not using flash. If they are in exactly the same place in different shots, with your camera it might be dust on the lens. It is very rare to get dust on the sensor with a compact camera, as it is the changing of lenses that allows dust to enter the camera body, and a compact camera is sealed. If it is very important for you to remove these orbs, it can be done with editing software by cloning and/or other techniques. These are not difficult in the mechanics of actually doing it, but do require a fair degree of skill to do it seamlessly. |
