Photo submission sites - Are these any good

I made myself a light box today and took some shots with the intention of uploading them to a photo submission site and I am just wondering if people on here think they are any good for that.

I have shrunk them down to go on here

OK I'll take the overwhelming silence as a clue... *LOL*

I'll work on them some more

Sites like Big Stock Photo etc.

Where you upload your photos, they sell them and you get a cut of the money

There is probably a better term to use than 'Photo submission sites' but I could not think of it

Ah Stock Photo sites.

Your best bet is to try and submit them. They normally will reject if they're not up to spec.

Mind you only $1 a shot ??

Maybe Alamy ? - They have some useful sub guidelines too.

Some of your shots are a touch brightly lit.

Re: Photo submission sites - Are these any good

These are not good enough for stock sites - harsh lighting looks like your main problem. But going through the submission process and taking on board the comments on the forums there to get them up to standard can only be good for your photography.

Shutterstock has a good and helpful forum so that'd be my recommendation as a starting point if you want to get into stock

Re: Photo submission sites - Are these any good

I use Alamy ... just for the challenge of acceptance really, they are very strict on photos, ie no sharpness applied so your capture, has to be of good quality, and sent through at 50 mb which is quite large any softness in your shot gets rejected, to light ,to dark, all get rejected.. i have about 30 photos on their site.. not sold anything yet but plenty of zooms ...
AS for the shots you have here i would respectfully say that when enlarged you may have a problem being excepted with Alamy ..but give it a go you never know .. have fun

Re: Photo submission sites - Are these any good

Thanks everyone, I actually submitted one to Bigstock Photos (a pic not shown here) and it was accepted but yeah I have to mess around some more for sure to get the light etc right.

I have tried Alamy in the past with no success but after reading forums and the amount of hassle people have trying to get their work accepted I don't think its worth it for the trouble and how much you earn.

I also think its sometimes depends on how you catch the people judging them on the day. I have had a photo turned down flat on one site and accepted straight away on another and both were strict

One good thing about Big Stock Photo is they accept illustrations and I have loads of them from my shirts so I just upload them and you don't have the same carry on as with photos and they are good earners to
