"Britain's Most Amazing Places" by Readers Digest is one terrific book, covering "The 1000 most unusual, beautiful and captivating spots in Britain". It is a hardback measuring 276x213x20mm (HWD) with 368 colourful pages.

The book is divided into geographical areas around Britain: West Country, South, London, East Anglia, Central England, Northwest, Northeast, Wales, Scotland + N. Ireland, and each of these sections is sub-headed by county, each of which lists dozens of spectacular places of character, beauty and/or intrigue, complete with maps, directions, and a brief description. Best of all - and this is the reason for my bringing it to your attention - are the photographs! The book is packed with absolutely stunning shots of these places.

So, this fab book has a dual purpose: (1) Full of truly inspiring photographs - and I mean they are really awesome - for interested photographers to study + learn from. (2) Lists 1000 places of interest for those who need inspiration on what to photograph.

As you may gather, I love this book! and I wanted to share my find with you. Just looking at the photo's for inspiration makes it well worth having. great find there charlotte, some photography magazines have similar features '25 places to photograph' in a certain location or area which i'm always looking out for. So this book looks like it does it all. Must get myself one

Different calibre photographs to those I've seen in any photo magazine, stupot, they really inspire to be more creative with composition, crop, + use of light. Be a real challenge to visit one (or more) of the places in the book + try to replicate the corresponding photo

They say an important part of learning photography is to study 'the masters', well this book is surely a great place to start, 'cos these photo's are really top notch

Let me know if you think I'm exaggerating, after you've seen it for yourself

Oh, I forgot to mention that it has 500 photographs - all best quality in every respect, covering landscape, architecture, people, etc. in all shapes, sizes + approaches

Tx Charlotte for the heads up . Think I will pop in to Book shop to see if they have it, as if it's as good as you say I might invest in hardback vs paperback. Seems the kinda of book you want left on the coffee table to keep the inspiration for taking photos coming

Yup Dave, + I'd definitely recommend going for the hardback, paperbacks tend to get tatty. Didn't see any mono's in it, but I'm sure you'll be impressed

Sorry didn't notice that, I checked the amazon hardback listing for the book though and there are several marketplace sellers with second hand copies from around a tenner if that helps anyone.

i actually got a new copy from amazon market place for £13 delivered, unfortunately seller only had 1 copy, but i'm sure there must be other suppliers out there for similar prices.
