Photographing the Mayor of Cheltenham this evening

The Cheltenham Camera club take the official photographs of the Mayor each year. The chairman of the club, a pro tog all his life will be taking the formal shots, with 3 more of us along to take different style shots. I'll be going for the informal , mono , style .

No experience of this kind of event, so will be interesting to see how the pro's manage it

Re: Photographing the Mayor of Cheltenham this evening

Done & dusted, but not allowed to share shots until Feb when presentation is done. All good fun

One of the guys was shooting with a Canon 5D & the 24-105L lens ....perfect for the shoot, as that would be the equivalent of shooting 16mm-70mm on a Nikon D200 .... I had the 17-55mm with my lens, although I must admit I got one decent DOF shot at f/2.8 that I couldn't have got with f4 of the canon lens.

Re: Photographing the Mayor of Cheltenham this evening

Dave, I joined the professional on the three previous occassions he did this and certainly learnt from this particularly how to combine the flash with room lighting. He also takes account of the size, gender and age of the subject and adopts different types of poses accordingly. There are clearly a lot of trade secrets involved.
