Re: photography in a damp climate

I took my D300 to Dubai a few months ago, The humidity at night was bad, I basically let the camera and lense adjust to it before switching on, the lense misted up as soon as it was took outside 20 mins and it was ok, It behaved faultlessly even at 51 degrees in the desert
Youre fine going into a air con enviroment but wull mist up coming from

Depends on what camera you got my D300 is wethersealed, but i still wouldnt take it out in a storm. I would be extra vigilent if your not sure, I thought you were concerned on effects of condensation etc.

Re: photography in a damp climate

I was in Sierra Leone for most of the rainy season out of aircon cars and hotels into 30 degree heat and 100% humidity when it wasn't raining torrentially. The D300 was fine humidity and rain. Just let it dry and acclimatise every chance you get.

Condensation can form inside a camera if the air is damp enough and there is a temperature difference. It won't get in, the damp is there already, but in the air. When there is a change in the temperature it drops out og the air and will coat any surface with moisture.

Acclimatisation is the key as has been said.
