Hello all,

I can't believe I didn't think of letting you all know about this earlier. I think some of my marbles are being lost at a rate of knots!

I completed my City & Guilds Foundation in Photography (Level 2) in September and all the members of the group are exhibiting our course work this Saturday. There is a raffle with some great prizes, we're selling custom calendars and also have a lovely huge, fluffly toy dog up for grabs; you just have to choose the winning name for him. This is all in aid of a local Young Persons charity (we're hoping to get them a camera with the funds raised).

On top of that, if we sell any of our prints, we keep the proceeds (which is nice).

If anyone is near Burgess Hill, West Sussex, do pop along. The Exhibition is being held in the Market Place shopping centre, where there is ample parking. It's running between 10am and 4pm.

I went along last year to see the previous year's C&G group's work. It was fascinating - and refreshing to see a mix of digital and darkroom produced images.

Be great to see anyone from Pixalo if you come along! Oh, and by the way, I am the only Lucy there.

I went along last year - some jolly good stuff being exhibited.
A prior engagement will keep me away this year, but I am sure it will all go well for you.

Finally the penny has dropped... it takes a while!
Say "Hello" to John for me - I did the shorter evening course with him last year. If you mention Ali with the Buns* he might remember me (but then again he might not!)

* It was a close-cropped shot of Rock Buns (subject "Texture") which made him announce to the class that "Ali has great buns"

Oh that's superb, Ali! John is such a nice man - and gets away with murder because he is of the rather mature variety. I will try to remember to pass on your best wishes; I'm sure he'll be pleased!

I'm also looking forward to moving on with what I've learnt and actually taking more pictures!

I thought I would just let you know that the Photography Exhibition went really well. We raised £447 for our chosen charity and had a lot of interest in all of the pictures. I spoke to so many other keen photographers on the day, and received a few orders for prints of my pictures too!

We just have to wait for the results of the course now... Shouldn't be long. I'm hopeful it will be good news.

Loose, where's my raffle prize????

I can't remember attending a photo exhibition before so it was interesting seeing what folk do for such events.

I will say that it definitely pays to display decent sized images. 10 X 8 is a minimum.

Oh and those photo books are a cracking idea

Mike - thanks very much for coming along. It was great to have local support. I totally agree with you regarding the larger images - it makes a huge difference.

Yes, both of the orders for prints came from the A4 leaflet photobook I had done via Pixalo/Cewe. I was extremely impressed with the quality - and the fact that it was despatched in 3 days after ordering. A lot of people commented on it. So thanks Pixalo for that - I hope to have put some more business that way!
