Photos at the Goodwood revival!!!

Hi All,

Hoping to go to the Goodwood revival for the first time and wanted some advice from thise of you who may have been before.

Not sure what ticket to get, I've heard it's much quieter on the Friday, is there enough action to make it worth my while, or should we brave the crowds on sat/sun??

Also what grandstand ticket is best for taking photos?? Will I be able to access at the front of the crowd for photos of the cars. If i decide not to get a grandstand ticket, is there access around the track where I can get a decent view of the action for racing photos???

Hope all of this makes sense, I appreciate any advice from those of you that have been before!!!!

Hi Matt, I've not been to the revival, but have been to the festival of speed. To be honest, it's busy on all days, but you may get a few more dressing up on Sat/Sun. As for the grandstands, is the revival on the track or the hillclimb course, as the stands for the hillclimb didn't always have the best view, unless you are on the front row, you could get to the front of the crowds with a bit of perseverance. The protective hay bales were quite high, so I stood on a deckchair for some shots, perhaps a really solid cool box would be good for standing on, as the deckchair was a bit wobbly.

Thanks for your response Sarah. As I understand it the revival is on the track, and I don't know if I want to spend all my time in the grandstand, if I can wander around and get access for photos elsewhere. That said I think there will plenty more photo oppurtunities, apart from on the track!!!!!

If you can get into the pits, which you can at the festival of speed, you can get some good candids of the drivers & mechanics & the cars. It's a great event, especially as the revival is a dress up costume event. I'll look forward to seeing your shots.

I'm getting excited already... I've just booked my ticket but its not til August, lots of time to improve my panning technique!!!!!!

Practice some elbow technique as well, to get you to the front of the crowd
