Re: photoshoot - children

dont be afraid to get down to their level, roll about the floor with them if necessary........ remember the kid in you and they will respond much more to you than u being all stiff behind the camera........show tham the pic on the screen, and make them part of the whole thing not just the subject and you will get much more relaxed and natural shots.

Re: photoshoot - children

I would suggest props that they can interact with...a doll, rocking horse, etc...something that will get them to play and not feel that they are working

Re: photoshoot - children

Oddly enough, just this morning my wife reminded me of the line: "Got any children, Blackadder? Never mind, I'll skip breakfast."

When I used to photograph the little darlings I always found it best to ignore the parents completely and appeal to the subject's greed. Offer a kid a toy and you'll get an unforced expression of joy. It's amazing how many toys you used to be able to buy for 5 and I added it on to the bill anyway.

Re: photoshoot - children

Ho ho ho - tell me about it - my subject in photo critique charged me a quid - lol!
Well, I'm just setting up for the arrival of the kids (all under 11 - ouch) - which brings me to the next question - how much do I charge?? This is the bit that's going to let me down, as I'm doing pictures for friends at the moment...

I would checkout local competition & charge accordingly. Bit unusual to sort the price after the shoot

Re: photoshoot - children

Ah - not for this one - as I said, its a friend, so this may help with a portfolio...off to process them now
eek - co-ordinating four children to smile at the same time! In retrospect the Haribo bribes weren't a good idea...still the ceiling will repaint lol
