Pinch of Salt

I just calibrated my monitor + discovered that it was very out of whack ... sooooooo anyone whose images I've critiqued over the last day or even two (?) please take my critique with a pinch of salt, as my monitor was lying to me

and please accept my apologise for any comments you felt were picky or inaccurate + which might have been due to my monitor not being calibrated properly

Hope you got your monitor sorted.........I spend far too much time calibrating mine, it becomes a silly obsession at times

Yes P-E, still using Huey ... Well I was, until I got to thinking it was useless, so I stopped bothering with it + kept ignoring its reminders to calibrate ... then Jack commented that he thought I was seeing his pic wrong, so when he queried the calibration of my monitor I thought there's every chance he's right 'cos I knew I hadn't calibrated lately ... maybe Huey does work after all

Actually I think what happened is that it kept adjusting the screen for the different lighting situations, i.e. day then night, but as it readjusted itself it wasn't being terribly accurate (being the cheap one

) so even over a fairly short time it got quite out of whack, i.e. worked its way down to a very low contrast

Anyway, looks ok now

Hi John, yes things are good thanks, if rather hectic

Oh yes indeed, made my choice of monitor long ago

And it's funny that even after all the time that's passed since I first started looking at getting new pc, I've chosen the same spec as I originally had in mind

Still, it's best to be sure + not rush into buying these things. As for being able to afford it ... well, that's debatable, but I'm gonna go ahead with it anyway

i think i have calibrated my monitor once, as long as my prints look as they do on my screen i know its how i want it! lol

how do you calibrate your mouse, it controls your monitor doesn't it?

LOL Boofers, your mouse doesn't control your monitor, it just navigates it ... as for calibrating your mouse, I guess that equates to cleaning the trackball (where applicable)
