Polarising Filter

Hi,

I was reading one of the issues of Practical Photography a couple of months back and came across a piece on Polarising Filters. I liked the idea and thought I would have a go myself.

Rather than just jump in - I thought I would see if someone can give me some pointers in the right direction.

Cheers

Simon

Re: Polarising Filter

Go for a circular, not a linear poloriser. I've been using Kood. They are of reasonable quality and not too dear.

Got mine from SRB-Griturn as they are only a couple of miles from me. I think they are readily available from most suppliers.

Re: Polarising Filter

Yep - def the circular. Tho have just bought a linear one to see what I can do with it!

Just remember - don't do stitched panos with it. And when you first get it, rotate it while looking through the viewfinder just so you get a feel for how it works. Nothing worse than just shooting with it on to find you've had it on the wrong angle. And if you change direction when shooting, check the filter again.

And if playing with manual exposure don't forget to adjust for a few stops. It will be darker (tho I quite like that).

Hope this helps and that I haven't stated the obvious too much if you did already know these things!
