Print colours are wrong

I HAVE BEEN HAVING A FEW PROBLEMS WITH MY EPSON XP 950 RECENTLY.
LAST WEEK, I WAS GETTING BLACK IN ON THE BACK OF MY PRINTS, THAT PROBLEM HAS NOW RECTIFIED ITSELF.
NOW, THE COLOURS ARE WRONG IN THE PRINTS, EXAMPLE A MAGNOLIA WALL, IS COMING OUT A SAGE GREEN COLOUR AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A SLIGHT GREEN CAST OVER THE PRINTS.
ANY HELP AND ADVICE PLEASE

MANY THANKS

Re: Print colours are wrong

Sounds like you are having a color management conflict - using photoshop (or whatever is your photo editing/printing software) to color manage and having the printer's color management turned on at the same time. Only use one color management.

Re: Print colours are wrong

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR REPLY. THIS PROBLEM HAS ONLY ARISEN SINCE LAST WEEK, WHEN I HAD THE PROBLEM WITH THE BLACK INK ON THE BACK OF MY PRINTS.

SINCE THEN, I HAVE DONE A PRINT HEAD CLEAN, A NOZZLE CLEAN, PRINTHEAD ALIGNMENT. ALSO CHANGED, BLACK INK, CYAN, LIGHT CYAN.

JUST SEEMS VERY STRANGE, HAVE NEVER HAD COLOUR MANAGEMENT PROBLEMS BEFORE, IT HAS BEEN PRINTING FINE, UNTIL LAST WEEK.

Re: Print colours are wrong

Can you clean the print head by taking it out and cleaning with isoproponal ?

How old / expensive is the printer ? New one ?

Re: Print colours are wrong

HI CHRIS, I WAS GOING TO REMOVE THE PRINTHEAD AND CLEAN IT, AS SUGGESTED BY GRAHAM ( DABHAND ), LAST WEEK, WHEN I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH BLACK INK, ON THE BACK OF THE PRINTS.

AS THAT PROBLEM SEEMED TO HAVE RECTIFIED ITSELF, I NEVER REMOVED THE PRINTHEAD.
ITS NOT AN EXPENSIVE PRINTER, I HAVE HAD IT FOR APPROX THREE YEARS, IT IS AN ALL IN ONE, I THINK THEY ARE ABOUT 190 NOW, BUT HOPEFULLY THE PROBLEM CAN BE RESOLVED, AS I DON'T REALLY WANT TO HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE.

Re: Print colours are wrong

Woody, I am no expert in these things at all. The only thing I can suggest is that if the printer was working OK before something in the settings has got changed. Try setting the printer settings to "Default" position. This may have been accidently taken off.
Colin.

Re: Print colours are wrong

Hi Woody, like Colin I am no expert, I would go into "control panel " on the computer, then "devices" then "printer" and go to "printer set up" and ensure it is still set to "best photo".
My only colour issue was ages ago and turned out to be a new sensor cleaner that left a slight magenta cast.

Re: Print colours are wrong

THANK YOU COLIN AND CHARLES, I THINK I HAVE NOW REALISED, WHAT HAS CAUSED THE PROBLEM, WELL AT LEAST, I THINK IT IS. AS THE GENUINE INKS FOR THIS PRINTER, ARE 80 A SET, I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY SOME COMPATIBLE INKS.

I P UT THE BLACK, CYAN AND LIGHT CYAN INKS IN, WHICH WERE THE COMPATIBLE INKS, I WAS NOT COMPLETELY HAPPY WITH THESE ANYWAY, AS THE INK WAS VERY RUNNY, INSIDE THE CARTRIDGES, AS I WENT TO TURN THEM OVER TO PUT THEM IN THE PRINTER, I GOT COVERED IN INK.

SO, I BOUGHT ANOTHER SET OF ORIGINAL EPSON INKS, WHICH I SHOULD HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I HAVE REPLACED THE COMPATIBLE INKS, WITH THE EPSON INKS AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE OK NOW.

THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND TIME, I HAVE EVER BOUGHT COMPATIBLE INKS, THIS TIME AND ONCE BEFORE, WHEN I HAD A CANON PRINTER, BOTH TIMES HAVE BEEN A DISASTER, NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY COMPATIBLE INKS.

MANY THANKS AGAIN, FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND ADVICE

Woody, Compatible inks are a "No No" they only lead to trouble and I think you have just proved this.

Re: Print colours are wrong

COLIN, THAT IS CERTAINLY, THE LAST TIME I WILL EVER USE COMPATIBLE INKS, YOU THINK YOU ARE SAVING MONEY, BUT YOU ARE NOT, BECAUSE THEY RUIN YOUR PRINTS, CAUSE A LOT OF PROBLEMS TO YOUR PRINTER AND YOU STILL END UP, HAVING TO BUY GENUINE INKS ANYWAY.

SO, MOST DEFINITELY, ONLY GENUINE EPSON INKS FROM NOW ON, THEY MIGHT BE EXPENSIVE, BUT THEY DO THE JOB PROPERLY

Re: Print colours are wrong

Once I got my hubby to buy ink for me and he got a compatible ink (didn't know the difference) - so I tried the yellow - stuffed the printer - yellow would not work again even with new Canon ink - had to buy a new printer! It was a blessing in disguise because new one is a quantum smaller but does everyhting the last one did and takes up less real estate on the desk

Re: Print colours are wrong

HI WILLOW, REALLY GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK.
YES, I THINK WE ALL LEARN TO OUR EXPENCE, NEVER TO USE COMPATIBLE INKS EVER AGAIN.
I CANNOT UNDERSTAND, WHY PEOPLE KEEP BUYING THEM, ALL I CAN SAY IS, THE COMPANIES THAT SELL THEM, MUST HAVE A TIE UP, WITH THE COMPANIES THAT SELL PRINTERS, AS THERE MUST BE LOADS MORE PRINTERS SOLD TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THEIR PRINTER RUINED BY COMPATIBLE INKS.
