Printer ink

Before i order some ink for my printer i was just wanting to know what one would be the best to use, i don't print any images with the printer as i get a lab to do it, its mostly used by the boys for homework etc, i noticed now that you can get compatible ink for Canon printers that now come chipped its never that simple is there something hidden that you have to get to make this work or is it just better sticking to the genuine ones?

Re: Printer ink

SIMPBOW, I PERSONALLY HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH COMPATIBLE CARTRIDGES A FEW MONTHS AGO. I WILL ONLY USE GENUINE CANON ONES NOW, BUT SPARINGLY BECAUSE OF THE COST.

AS I SAY THIS THROUGH MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, THAT'S NOT TO SAY THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE UNHAPPY WITH COMPATIBLE CARTRIDGES, AS I HAVE NO DOUBT THERE ARE SOME GOOD ONES OUT THERE

Re: Printer ink

As woody said - there are good compatible inks out there, but if you do not pick one you might end up regretting it.

I use inkprovider.com for my genuine Canon inks, but I think depending on your printer some places are better than others. as a guide, I can replace all of my 4 cartridges for my Canon i560 for around 23.50, which is almost half of the High Street price.

Re: Printer ink

We currently have four printers, two A3 Epson's for photography (one over 9 years old) and two A4 Canons for general use (including an occasional photograph on one of them). I would not consider cheap inks for the A3 Photo Printers as I want consistent results. However, I did experiement with a highly recommended third party ink for one of the Canon A4 printers. The ink was less than half price but the Black ink was not Black enough and the colours looked odd. Some prints of text were barely readable. So I went back to genuine Canon ink and have had no problems since.

Re: Printer ink

Cheers Dave, used the non-genuine inks a few years back but wasn't impressed with them, hoping they would of maybe changed though.

Re: Printer ink

There's a very good compatible ink manufactured in Germany by OCP. I have been using it it my HP Photo printer and also an Epson. Neither mine or a friends has given any trouble since using OCP inks
It is available from 100ml bottles upwards. Six colours of these 100ml bottles cost total 27 delivered.

Larger quantities are available for CISS sytems at a bulk price ,starting at 1litre tins.

All of the ink is certificated.

It is available from Promax Imaging Ltd in Stoke on Trent. Tel. 01538-722121 Its very good also for CISS.
Fade tests done on my prints have indicated over a period of three years with two prints stuck on my office wall that the compatible ink is no different from the HP Vivera ink.

I hope this helps
