Question Professional Portfolios?

I am looking to create some Professional Portfolios of my photographic work, I wont something in print form that can be used to show people some of the shots I take and would like to display/sell - I have been reading up on this on the net and am still wondering what the best way of doing this is, i have heard of pdf files being made as a digital portfolio that can be emailed etc and think this could be useful also - but I still wont something in print form that represents what I do, what do others here do? I have heard of the photo books but never seen one, I have tried clear file folders with A4 prints but still think there must be a more professional way/look of presenting work - any help an suggestions from others on this would be a big help also thoughts on creating a digital version which can be emailed?

Re: Professional Portfolios?

Re showing off actual prints, I would say it all falls down to how much you want to charge for end packages / prints. For example, if looking at the lower end market, then you can use a 20 Photobook from the likes of Digital photos, photo books, photo gifts - Welcome to the CeWe photoworld! /\/ CeWe - simply beautiful photos or Photobox. BUT, if you are dealing with clients you hope to charge say a few hundred pounds for a Photobook, then you really need to showcase your own work in a similar fashion

Re Digital files, create your document in whatever application you feel comfortable with, then save as PDF using something like http://www.cutepdf.com/
Hope that helps

Re: Professional Portfolios?

Thanks Dave - some good ideas to look at there, I have two businesses in Wanaka who are happy to display/sell my work on there walls, these are VERY heavy foot traffic locations and in a VERY busy tourist town I am wanting to expand on this some more as time goes on and find other places to sell work also - I have been thinking biz cards and maybe photo books at these locations for people to look at wile they are there, a website is something I will get onto as well - am also looking to find new ways of displaying photographic works on walls etc as some places don't lead themselves to traditional framed prints, what are your thoughts on the new acrylic blocks? and maybe some canvas prints all things i need to look at.....

Anything goes in my eyes, if it gives you publicity I assume you will look to include your site URL on the items ?
