Raw

Hi can anyone tell me what raw is, my camera has something called ccd raw.Also what exactly is ISO all I know is that it has something to do with exposure and has a range of numbers. thanks in advance

Re: Raw

Iso is the same as asa on film, it is the film speed, the higher the number the faster the film speed meaning that it reacts to light quicker allowing you to take photographs in lower light levels, the downside is that the higher the speed the more noise/grain is introduced to the image. This can be annoying or can be used creativly to give moody effects etc.
Raw is a high end capture of your photo, you can have small jpgs medium and large then the next stage up is raw. They capture lots if information but produce large files so you cant take as many on your card.
You will also need some software to convert you images to either jpg or tiff, if your camera has a raw setting then it should also have come with a raw converter.

Even if you set your camera to JPG it still shoots in raw and converts to JPG
