Resizing for Alamy

Hey one and all!

I was wondering if there is anyone out there in virtual world who can tell me how to resize up my pictures please? I have been told by Alamy th@ each image has to be a minimum, uncompressed size of 48MB!!!! I have PhotoShop8 and just cannot work it out. So, if anyone could help me, please, I would be most grateful!

Thanks and have a great weekend! J

Re: Resizing for Alamy

There's much said about resizing, about which method works best and how to go about getting as good a result as possible. But PS seems as good as any:
Image
Image Resize
Set to percent: anywhere from 200-400 (depending on original - experiment to find optimum)
Constrain Proportions, Resample Image should both be ticked and latter set to Bicubic

Save file as a TIFF (which is where large size comes from - no compression)

HTH - and a good w/e to you too!

Re: Resizing for Alamy

I have stuff on Alamy and use the following procedure.
Image
Image resize
set resolution to 300dpi if it isnt already,
then set the longest edge in width or height to 5125 pixels. This will give you a file size of about 50 meg.

it all depends on what the use of the image is for, magazine, greeting card etc, also if the worldwide exclusive rights are purchased for a set number of months/years the fee goes up. one method of seeing how much an image will sell for is to register then try to buy an image for a certain use, it will come up with a figure for you and you simply dont press the buy button. As with all picture agencies dont upload a few images then expect to get instant massive returns, to start seeing regular returns for your effort you will need at least 1000 images on there. It is more of a long term project or pension scheme as I look at it.
