Round one of the official Photography Competition

Since the admin are indecisive and can’t decide on the first subject for the competition we thought that we will offer you a chance to vote on the theme. We have managed to narrow it down to just four options but the final choice is up to you..

Once the topic has been chosen we will give you an email address so that you can post your entries. Each round will be administered by one of the admin team only and this is likely to change throughout the different rounds.

Below is a detailed outline of the rules and how to enter, please read them and ask any questions in this thread only. I have tried to be clear on the rules and what to do but what I think and write tend to be different, so this is your chance to question away

Rules and how to enter

Your entry should be reduced to no bigger than 600 pixels along its longest edge. This includes any borders that you may or may not want to add. The size reestriction will help protect the images from being stolen/copied and also ensure that all pictures are viewed under the same restrictions.

Post processing and “Photoshop” work can be applied but please do not put your name or forum alias on the picture anywhere, the whole of the voting system relies on members not knowing which entry belongs to which member.

Once you have your entry ready (only one per member and once submitted no changes will be allowed), send it via email to the address provided and include your forum name. Any entries received that are to big, have names on the photo itself, do not have the members name included with the email or that are received after the closing date will be rejected.

Once the closing date has passed, all the entries will be numbered and displayed in a “Competition Gallery” for all to view. All members will then have 7days to vote on their favorite three photos using the forums PRIVATE MESSAGE system. Again these should be sent to the admin that is running the competition for that round. Votes for your own entry will again be disallowed and anyone suspected of cheating will have their entry removed from that round of the competition.

After the voting has been completed, the top three results will be posted in a competition thread and the photos in the gallery will have their numbers changed to the names of each member that submitted them. We would then like to have members comment, critique and generally offer words of wisdom on the entries. This is where we can all learn the most as feedback in invaluable. This will also be the place to discuss technique and setting used to capture the photos.

The winner will then have the honor to select a subject for the second round of the competition and the whole process will start again. The success of this depends entirely on the forum members, so your efforts and contributions are essential. Hopefully it will grow and develop into one of the webs most fun, helpful and successful photography competitions.

Colour is currently holding of the opposition. I set the poll to run for 7days so there is still time for the vote to swing.

Well with four days left to vote, colour eases ahead with 6 votes, in hot persuit is curves with 4 votes. Lines and geometry are currently neck and neck at the rear. Don't miss out on your chance to vote if you have not already done so.

The poll is over and the votes are in, we have a unanimous winner.

The subject for round one of the photography competition is Colour

Rules and how to enter

Your entry should be reduced to no bigger than 600 pixels along its longest edge. This includes any borders that you may or may not want to add. The size restriction will help protect the images from being stolen/copied and also ensure that all pictures are viewed under the same restrictions.

Post processing and “Photoshop” work can be applied but please do not put your name or forum alias on the picture anywhere, the whole of the voting system relies on members not knowing which entry belongs to which member.

Once you have your entry ready (only one per member and once submitted no changes will be allowed), send it via email to competition@thephotographyforums.com and include your forum name. Any entries received that are to big, have names on the photo itself, do not have the members name included with the email, or that are received after the closing date will be rejected.

The closing date for this round is midnight of the 14th March. Any entries not in by that date will be disallowed.

Once the closing date has passed, all the entries will be numbered and displayed in a “Competition Gallery” for all to view. All members will then have 7days to vote on their favourite three photos using the forums PRIVATE MESSAGE system. Votes for your own entry will again be disallowed and anyone suspected of cheating will have their entry removed from this round of the competition.

I will be handling the running of round one so if you have any specific questions that you may not want to ask on the forums I can be contacted by Private Message. You will also need to contact me by PM with your votes once the entries are displayed. Any other questions/comments can be posted in this thread.

Good luck to everyone..let the fun begin.
