Scanning slides using hp 4470c any help

Hi just got a scanner hp 4470c with the scanjet xpa slide attachment, but after almost 2 hours of installing and testing i can still only spew out awful small images at 32kb each and the quality is almost 0, anyone help/guide me through this before i smass the scanner over my own head

Not done too much of this, and it was a very long time ago. Can of worms.

Try upping the DPI setting to a very high number - at least 3000 and see if that helps.

Obvious advice, but read the manual is a good place to start.

What software are you using to scan with?

where do i go to up the dpi ?

You will probably find the manual on the HP web-site. DPI setting is within the software.

This might be the place to start.

Also, I think Photoshop can control a scanner.

Hi,

I use a Canon 4200F with slide attachment, I set the res to around 600dpi and use the "Film" scanning option to light the lamp in the lid of the scanner.

The results were surprisingly good except on dreadfully underexposed slides from my mom's old Kodak box camera.

I haven't experimented much beyond that, hope it helps!!!
