selling to a dealer
I have been in communication with a dealer who advertises in Amateur Photographer magazine regards him selling my equipment on commission sale basis, maybe being over- cautious but there is only a PO box and no shop. The pessimist in me is making me slightly warey. The dealer seems straight down the line but i dont know them from adam to be blunt, , any advice would be welcome, another shop ffordes in Scotland has offered to do the same but offering £200 less ( in total estimated selling price) than PO box dealer

Re: selling to a dealer
Try EBAY.....you usually get top wack for the stuff, as long as you take time to list the item as well as possible. You can set a reserve & if it doesn't sell you've wasted a few quid.

Re: selling to a dealer
yeah i'd agree with dave there, camera equipment sells for top prices on ebay. I recently was in the market for a couple of lenses, found a few that interested me, added them to my watch list and all went for 20 - 30 less than full retail, some even going for more than you could buy them brand new, its amazing how some people really dont do there homework.
I'd stear clear of PO boxes you really wouldn't have much recourse if things went tits up, might be totally legit but..... |

Re: selling to a dealer
I would stay away from PO boxes, there would be very few legitimate reasons why a dealer would need to have one and not an open address that is visible to the public, afterall he is dealing with the public and if his business is legitimate then why would he need to hide...
Split the listings on Ebay and put sensible reserves on each item so that if you get reasonible bids you can sell those items, leaving you only the cost of readvertising the ones that did not make your wanted price. Dave is your ebay expert and he will tell you that the prices you will get from the people who don't do their research will almost be as much as you can buy the same equipment for new. HTH |

Re: selling to a dealer
Best bit of advice is look at "completed listings" on EBAY of the items you want to sell. This will give you an idea of what they sell for. Make note of which Ads get the most money, which category they are listed in , how they are worded etc, & basically copy the winning formula
Good luck & if you need any more hints / tips let us know. |
