Slideshow Recommendations?

I organized a bunch of pictures from a friend's wedding and I want to put them online on a slideshow site. I searched and found a ton of sites, but what ones do you guys recommend?

Re: Slideshow Recommendations?

Hi Tillyand welcome to Pixalo You might like to drop into the Welcome Forum but in the meantime, your question. I've never put a slideshow on line so can't help there. I just upload static shots to my on-line gallery. If you want to upload a slideshow there are a few good flash based apps for reasonable prices but I'm sure others will come up wit more positive suggestions.

Re: Slideshow Recommendations?

Adobe Lightroom comes with a pretty decent slideshow utility that will do everything you require from making the slideshow you uploading it and it becoming a fully featured online gallery, but if you are buying it just for this facility it makes it very expensive.

There is nothing stopping you downloading the free trial for the 30 days though, you could quite easily use it to do what you require in that time and never commit to buying the full product.

Hope that helps

Re: Slideshow Recommendations?

Hey.... the easy version would be to use Powerpoint... that way you can control the timings per/slide.....

Or the low cost version, most Operating Systems have a built in Slide Show function.

BUT. if you are using Windows... try Picasa, its a free piece of software for photo management and has a nice slideshow function...

Picasa

Any questions, let me know.. Cheers

Re: Slideshow Recommendations?

Not having uploaded a slideshow this is a bit new to me too. I use Powerpoint extensively for presentations at work but I'm puzzled and have a question. How can you view a PP slideshow in someone's online gallery, unless you have PP installed to your own computer? Or if it is a Picassa slideshow you need Picassa installed.

To have anyone view your slideshow should you not have the operating programme online too. Sounds a bit garbled that, but do you get my drift?

Try Jalbum, a easy to use free web album generator that has a built in slideshow, it is very customizable, with hundreds of skins available, and they will host your album for you, free.
Jalbum can be downloaded from :- JAlbum - the free web photo album software and photo gallery software

Try Uber. It's free and unlimited

I just made slideshow today of my moutain biking pics.
nikonian100 - Uber

you can change colors on just about anything. I kept it simple tho.

Lightroom does have nice gallery builder, but it's also $300. A bit much in $$$ and skills for someone who just want to share stuff.

Re: Slideshow Recommendations?

Try ProShow Gold it has a Web show creation option. Here is a bit of what the manual says about it.

A Web Show is a streaming show that plays over
the Internet from your own website. ProShow
Gold automatically generates the HTML code
along with the show so that you can easily add it
to your website. Shows are displayed on a
website using the Photodex Presenter, which
requires the Presenter Plug-in. For more
information on Photodex Presenter, please see
Chapter 6: Overview of Output.

It's also free to trial for 30 days so if you need a one off instance it actually costs nothing and is a complete doddle to use. As far as features go it does the works, including altering the colours, fades time each shot is displayed for, titles, headings etc and has the ability to use background music too...it will even allow you to upload straight from the application itself...doesn't get much easier than that!!

Re: Slideshow Recommendations?

Apologies Tilly.... I should have added that Picasa provides the ability to publish to a web album. And with a quick registration with google, you can also have space to be able to do this:

Once registered you will be given the below URL for your account to share with friends and family etc:

http://picasaweb.google.com/USERNAME
