Hey,

I have the option of setting my camera to sRGB or adobeRGB.

Which should I use and what are the advantages/disatvantages of each.

Thanks
Paul

Re: sRGB versus AdobeRGB

This only effects JPG output - not RAW - and is a complete and absolute can of worms.

If you shoot in RAW (recommended) there's no need to worry about the camera colourspace settings. RAW files do not have a colourspace attached - you decide that when you save/export the file from the RAW conversion software.

P.S. If you want a simple life and are not heavily into strong greens and cyans, sRGB saves a lot of trouble.

P.P.S. For a full description of the differences, please have a look at...

Re: sRGB versus AdobeRGB

yeah - I do usually shoot in RAW, but I have wondered what the difference in colour space was.

Thanks - I will have a read.

Re: sRGB versus AdobeRGB

My simplistic view is keep everything Adobe RGB to allow maximum compatibility between output devices & then remember to convert to sRGB for Web, otherwise shots will look flat.

Re: sRGB versus AdobeRGB

You also have to convert to sRGB for all applications that are not colorspace-aware - such as office apps - and maybe also for print shops that don't handle Adobe RGB.
