taking you camera and equipment on holiday
Has anyone taken their camera to a hot and humid climate if so how did you handle condensation .
In three weeks i'm off to florida for 15 lovely days i will be travelling around [ hired car ] I know the temp will be around 30c and as i understand it the humidity is quite high as well, for example do i keep my camera equipment in the boot or [ TRUNK ] or in the the car with the air conditioning on.You see i expect that if i keep it in the car when travelling with the air conditioning on , i will have problems with condisation ,ie coming from the cold cab to the warm heat ,of the mexican coast , Mmmmmm,,Sorry i digress ![]() So how do you guys deal with PROBLEMS with you camera and equipment when going on holiday to hot climates thanks

Re: taking you camera and equipment on holiday
Your manual should give you max and min operating temps. I've frequently taken my 40D to 40 degree climate with high humidity with no problems. Leave your camera and lenses at the same temperature as outside. If you have it in an air-conditioned car they will steam up when you take them outside.

Re: taking you camera and equipment on holiday
Before taking the camera from airco environment into high temp / humid environment, put it in a zip bag. Take equipment out and let it (in the zip bag) warm it up to outside temperature. Than take it out the bag and no condensation occurs. Coming from humid into airco is no problem.
Good luck. |

Re: taking you camera and equipment on holiday
I was poolside for a swimming event which was very humid & hot. I made sure I kept my camera body/lenses zipped in the bag (as already said above) for an hour or so before taking it out......didn't experience any condensation etc.

Re: taking you camera and equipment on holiday
I've just found out I have to go to Sierra Leone on Wednesday for a few days. After some umming and ahhring I have decided to take an SLR. It is the rainy season so very humid and pretty hot as well so we can compare notes when we get back.

Re: taking you camera and equipment on holiday
I have used my 30D in Florida several times with no problems, when we leave our villa I put my camera bag in the boot of the car. This way by the time we get to our destination the camera has got near to the outside temperature. I have not had any problems. Just be careful if you leave your camera in the car during the day as it gets very hot in the car.
