Hi,

Does anyone know or heard any rumours regarding an update to the Canon Eos 5d? I am currently doing some research for my next camera, and ideally the 1dsmkIII is top of the list, but the price and acceptability of the 5d is appealing (but specifications lack just slightly). Also the 1dsmkII is a possibility, but is now very old and having used one in a professional aspect it just has one or two flaws (noticably the focus which is a general concern from many pro's).

Anyone know of a 5d upgrade in the pipeline? Manythanks!

Do you mean an update to the camera (unlikely) or an update to the Firmware?

I was meaning to the camera ie a 5ds or MkII now there is almost 10mp between the flagship and the 5d i thought maybe they'd increase the 5d to the 1ds MkII level...... Or does anyone know if they will bring in an Eos 3d in the near future. This would then follow on from the film camera precedent!

I think we'd have heard some rumours by now if the 5D was going to be updated next month. Canon has already announced the 40D and 1Ds MkIII, and my guess is that the 5D will have to wait until next year.

I've been doing the news, and recently Canon were the first to blink with their new range, the hot potato being the 40D. I have seen nothing to indicate that another camera is in the offing, and I'd guess that any 5D replacement will not be until the next window of change.

The Canon followers will be far more aware of when this might be. My guess is also next year. Maybe Spring?
