Thruxton
I'm going to Thruxton this weekend for the BTCC have any of you good people been there before and if so would you mind passing on any good tips on where to stand? As I've never been before.

I've not been there, but this circuit consists of curves blending into each other, albiet around the back of the track they are pretty much flat out, and unless there is a good speed differential it can be a bit line astern. I think there is only one slower corner where you might see some action in the outfield.
There is a slower corner entering the pit straight, and a series of corners forming some 'S' bends before a slower corner leading out into a never-ending RH curve after the pit straight. If you go onto their web-site and check out the track diagram you will see what I mean. If you are going to stick in one place I think that somewhere in this section after the pit straight would be good.

You're limited to where you can stand at Thruxton far more than any other track. Basically, you have the section of the track from the last chicane to the Complex, the other, more open chicane.
Since you only have this small bit of track, you should have little trouble walking the lot of it and seeing what works for you. Use the support races to get some practise in, and see if the spot works as well as you think it does. |
