Whilst I think UKExpert.co.uk are a bunch of charlatans who are out to nick people's photos (yep, I said it so sue me!) I personally do not think they are actually in breach of the law as they clearly state in their rules of joining that when you upload pictures, they gain the right to use them however they want.

If someone is naive enough to then choose to be a member and upload pictures to that sort of site then I see little recourse available through the courts to claim they have had their pictures stolen. Indeed, because you have to actively put your pictures on the site yourself AND agree to the condition that states your picture becomes theirs in terms of how they use them, the law would deem that you purposefully chose to give your images to them. There is therefore no come-back unless you can prove that the rules were misleading or open to misinterpretation. They clearly are not which is why we know exactly what they are up to!

It beggars belief that anyone would be foolish enough to upload a high resolution image to a site that openly declares they will take it and sell it if they can and you will get absolutely no recompense yourself. Why on earth would anyone do that, yet they clearly do as that site does have members doing just that.

That is why Pixalo is such a great place to show your images. The images are low resolution, even forcibly so as there is a size limit that prevents anything large being put on display. Furthermore Pixalo state clearly that they do not take your copyright or your pictures and their only restriction is that they cannot prevent people from right-clicking on an image and downloading it and if they then use that image as their own personal work, Pixalo cannot be held responsible, which seems eminently fair enough to me.

So, if anyone wants to send me their best work and help make me rich, please pop them in an email and I'll go sell them as my own work and you won't get a penny. There you go, at least I was honest

seriously tho, there are lots of sites out there that will take a commision if you display your work on their site and it subsequently sells.......fair enough after all its them that have the web site costs etc.......... but ukexpert has to be the only one i have seen that will take ALL the money for doing it! lol
