Velbon screwed on or off question

Just a quick question. But I've got the velbon 635 and the ph-157q head. Now the head is going to be sold on ebay. Only the screw that connects the head to the tripod, is that going as well, or do I need it for the new ballhead I'm going to order.

Or better, when you buy a tripod without a head, does it come with that screw on?

Re: Velbon screwed on or off question

You can unscrew the adaptor from the head you are selling or buy them anywhere (even from Jessops!)

If you do remove it, the buyer will have to get another one unless they have a tripod with the other thread size.

Re: Velbon screwed on or off question

Some tripods (the better ones, generally) have a 3/8" UNC male thread. The smaller/cheaper ones can have a 1/4" UNC thread - the same as the female thread on most cameras.

The better heads have a 3/8" female thread, in which case no adapter is needed if the tripod also has this size of thread. However, to go from one size to the other, you need the adapter.

Hope that makes sense!

Good head the 157Q. I've got half a dozen heads and two of them are that model. Simple, cheap and very reliable - you can quote me on that!
