Venezuela-anyone been?

Hi, off to Margarita - a small island off the coast of Venezuela - on Sunday, has anyone been and got any advice regarding photo opportunities?

Taking my D200, 18-200 and nifty fifty. Hoping to get some candid shots and also some landscapes. Planning a trip to Angel falls (the highest waterfall in the world) although I am not sure that 18mm will be wide enough

Any advice greatfully received.

TIA

Alan

sorry have never been but do enjoy it and hope you get some great shots. If you manage to remember when you visit Angel falls stand in a beautiful spot and take about 9 images (portrait) while spinning around 360 clockwise, email me them when you get back and i would love to put them into a 360 virtual tour for you.

Re: Venezuela-anyone been?

Make sure you come back, once you go there to the Isla de Margarita you do not want to come back I have a friend who went to Porlamar and he still lives there, Porlamar is about 16 Kilometers from Del Caribe International Airport.
It's like a piece of Paradise visited him once and found it very hard to come back.

I would say have fun, but I know you will, see if theres any surf going on it a great spectacle.
and just south of the Airport there wind surfing and what they call skate surfing hundredsof people go there, it happens in a beach called El Yaque, you have to visit Castillo Santa Rosa, Its a Fort that dates to the 1600's and used to control the Pass from South to North, theres so many places so little time.

after all It is a Caribbean Island rich in history

Try visiting Aruba it is about 700 kilometers from there but well worth it.

hopefully we will see you back with some pictures

ahhh and almost forgot to tell you...Venezuelan women are some of the most beautiful in the World.

Re: Venezuela-anyone been?

jsotelo, unfortunately at this stage in my life I feel that not coming back is not an option.

I am really looking forward to the holiday (much needed) and if I can get some good shots then that is a real bonus

I am aware that I do not wish to become a camera bore.....

However I need to balance this view with the fact that I may never go to this country again.... The world is a very large place and I have seen but a tiny fraction of it so far, I do have expansive plans however

Regards,

Alan
