Hi I'm fairly new to photography (2007) and site and I'm planning to go to Wasdale in the lake district and I would like some assistance to get the best out of my trip:
1. I plan to leave London around 10.00pm on a Friday night sometime in October 08, weather permitting!!
2. Reaching Wasdale around 04.00-06.00 on Sat morning.
3.I plan to take some pics with dawn light as soon as I arrive and throughout the day, as I will have to return on Sunday, leaving Wasdale around 14.00pm.
4. I will take along a Nikon D40: Lenses: 18-200mm Nikkor VR 70-300 Nikkor VR.
ND Filters, tripod, SD cards, spare battery, polorizing filters.

I plan on shooting landscapes and maybe wildlife , I would like to ask if anyone has been, if so can you post or send me some shots of the area. Also what settings should I be shooting on for best results, please remember I'm a newbie so treat me gently

Hi Colva,
The classic "Britain's Favourite View" is looking down the Lake towards Wasdale Head. The Lake District Park uses that as a stylised logo. Yewbarrow, Geat Gable and Lingmell. The sun will rise somewhere over the Scafell Range I would think but suggest a sun compass to be sure.
Settings? I use a tripod, low (100) ISO, small aperture and remote release but I am sure others will be more familiar with your Nikon. I must confess that I have not been up at that time of the morning myself.
