Wedding Photos

Hi, I have been put in a pretty nerve racking spot. My brother cant afford a photographer for his wedding so he asked me to do it seein as how I like photography. The weddings on 12th december or somthing so its gonna be dark by 430 really. Has anyone got any tips to help me with getting good snaps in low light, to dark outside and inside rooms with lots of lights on around me, or any tips on good compositions???
Thanks.

Re: Wedding Photos

Go there first, plan the shoot and the shots with the couple. Write them down and tick them off on the day. Take some test exposures everywhere to build your confidence that it will all come out. There must be some rule that cameras go wrong when you have an important thing to shoot. Take a spare camera if you possibly can; beg borrow steal or even buy one on line so that you can return it under the distance selling regs afterwards (don't even open the box unless you have to). That time of year plan for rain so you want under cover or interiors. Even outside use flash (a diffuser will help) any dedicated unit will do very well but when taking the test shots work out bounce etc.

Spare everything batteries (camera and flash) memory cards. Under promise and over deliver

Re: Wedding Photos

I've just done a wedding for the first time. It was abroad so I was limited to what I could carry. As well as all the usual advice including Vinny's I would say the one thing I missed was the opportunity to take test shots in the venues beforehand.

The only other advice is - if you are not sure, don't do it.

To start with what camera and lenses do you own, That will help people to answer, you may need to get another lens like a 50mm F1.8 which are very good value
