Wedding Tomorrow

One of my good friends is getting married tomorrow and could not afford to hire a photographer they are not at all fussed about expensive proffesional shots they are so far from that type of people bless them. They have asked me if I will take some pictures for them and I have agreed. Now they are totally realistic that I am not a proffesional photographer and are not after anything fancy at all just some nice basic shots of her and hubby, her and bridesmaids and family and maybe a few in the ceremony and a couple at the reception. I don't want to get all swishy and then end up messing up.
Basically I plan to stay in auto and had planned to use my 28-200 outside and my 50mm for the ceremony and the reception. I also have a 70-300 for a few closer shots of the bridge and groom. Does this sound sensible? I can not stress enough that they know that they wont get proffesional but I just want to make sure that I get the best *basic* shots I can for them and myself.

I am not there as *official photographer* per se and all guests have also been given disposables as they want me to pack the camera up and enjoy myself aswell.

Re: Wedding Tomorrow

Try to get someone to help you. It is very helpful if your assistant can help arrange the various groups for their photographs. People are usually very happy to co-operate if the Photographer and assistant are clear what they want. Your assistant can also help distract or otherwise occupy your subjects while you change lenses, cards, batteries etc. Make sure you charge your batteries and take a spare. Good luck!

Re: Wedding Tomorrow

Thank you have that planned roping in my OH to help but also not afraid of asking people to move where I want running a rescue with thousands of vounteers I am not scared to ask for help I also have a back up camera and have spoken to George and her new OH about the shots they definately want so I can plan ahead. Thankfully the venue has a room that is apparently used because of the natural light it brings in if it rains so hoping that is a help combined with the 50mm lens. Although I plan to stay in auto I have had a play in manual today with the settings at 1/60 and f4.0 using a piece of tin foil to bounce the built in flash and was quite pleased with the results so *may* only *may* get brave and just try a few I am actually looking forward to it and never thought I would get the chance to get let lose with my camera at a wedding especially a wedding of people who have spent a year reassuring me that me being there is more important than the photos and that they appreciate me saying yes I will have a go at a few.
