Red face What to do when the model doesn't show up

On a monthly basis I try to attend a portrait group with the local camera club. Well at todays shoot the model decided to have a lapse of memory & didn't show ..... So rather than abandon the whole shoot, we decided to run a mini workshop where we went through shooting with 1 light, working up to 3. Here are some shots of other photographers without their cameras Shot using Clam Shell lighting.

1.

2.

more shots here :- Cheltenham Portrait Photography Gloucestershire Portrait Photographer

All shots taken with Nikon D200 & 50mm f/1.8 .... a pretty cheap setup

Re: What to do when the model doesn't show up

ohhhhhh now i know why i dont go to camera clubs! lol no way would u catch me doing that........... on a serious note im assuming clam shell is the light top and bottom and hte camera in between....... have to say that i do find two catch lights really off putting in the eyes,...... maybe its just a personal thing i always tyhink one catch light looks much more natural. lovely sharp images apart from that wee niggle tho.

Dave, I dropped out of this one and, after seeing those faces, I am glad I did. It could have been even worse, I might have been looking at my own face on Pixalo.

Re: What to do when the model doesn't show up

I agree with both Daves here....
For a start, there are no known photographs on the internets of my mugshot... camera shy is just tooooo tame to describe my allergy to being the subject of a photograph, and it was only after a few nips of the uisge beatha (water of life) before I could allow the photographer at our wedding to get started...

(PS .... for those who dont know..... uisge beatha, gaelic, the uisge in that is pronounced with a soft g, the same pronunciation as whisky, that is where the name whisky comes from....)

Ah yes, with the glasses we could have tackled how to avoid glare. We'll have to grab you next time
