Re: What flash do i need my camera

Didn't you ask a similar question before?

I thought that you had got the Vivitar working according to this thread

http://www.pixalo.com/community/flas...tml#post407298

If your hotshoe on the camera has only one central contact probably any flashgun will work on it. If there are several contacts you will still be able to use a flashgun with a single contact in manual mode but you will need a dedicated flash to get any TTL functions.

My guess is that your camera will only have a single central contact so any flashgun will work - BUT check that the trigger voltage is compatible between your camera and the flash unit or else you can damage the camera.Your camera might also need to be set to use external flash too, but I'm nor sure about that.

Re: What flash do i need my camera

Hi Graham the light in the flash I found broke so got to repair it if I can fined a new light bulb, the Vivitar that I have worked ok till the light bulb packed up this is why I asked the question, so a single contact on the camera and several on the flash should work ok but im scared to try it at this time. thank you for your help.

Re: What flash do i need my camera

Just check the trigger voltages on the camera and the flash are compatible.

Here is the s9600 manual

http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digi..._manual_01.pdf

I could not see any reference to the trigger voltage though.

This page gives trigger voltages for many brands of flashgun

Photo Strobe Trigger Voltages

I have seen on a forum that someone used a Miranda 930 TCD and that has a trigger voltage of 6.5v, and another recommending a Sunpak 383.

Looks like most Nikon flashes have a low trigger voltage too.

I think, 285 will be best. You will get a massive flash using it. While using reflected light such as umbrella or a diffuser, I found it very effective. Hope it'll also work for you.
