What price band Printer do you use ?

After visiting Monochrome Photography Club, it appeared most Digital guys printed their own shots, with the Epson R2400 being very popular. Thought I'd check price out .......£500+

Must admit though, the dedicated Mono ink cartridges on this system produced some stunning A3 Mono prints

Got me wondering what price printers people use at home ? Am I being a scrooge, being shocked at the £500+ printers

Have added poll, allowing multiple votes just in case you have more than 1 printer

Re: What price band Printer do you use ?

Well currently have a 5 yr+ old Epson Stylus Colour 600, that must be equivalent to £29 printers these days . Only used for printing off text.

Re: What price band Printer do you use ?

I've got a Canon i560, cost around £85. Had it for two or three years now. To my eye the prints it give are really good. I bought it off the back of a Which? report that said that although it was not specifically a photo printer, it had really good photo capabilities as well as being very good with text in terms of speed and quality. At the time, I did not print photos, I got it for the good report on text printing. The bonus for me is that now I do print photos, it performs really well.

FHIW, the Canon 5200r and 5200 get the nod in the latest tests.

As I now find myself doing more photo printing, I'm actually considering an A4 printer, but I guess in the real world using an on-line service is probably just as economic for the number of A4's I would print.

Canon ip4000 here, about he same price a Dod's.

Epson's new models sound quite good with their cheap cartridges Epson Stylus Photo R265 and R360

Re: What price band Printer do you use ?

Canon ip5200 here - Think its was £85 from Dabs.com.

At the time I was considering the ip9950 - but the realization that I would never print anything at less than A3 again made me go against this instinct

Re: What price band Printer do you use ?

I recently upgraded from an Epson R200 (£55 ebay) to a HP photosmart8750gp (£350).
I still use the epson for text and printing CD/DVDs.
But the HP is my main photo printer now, what a difference
(who said money can't by you happiness)(thanks mum!!!)
