What is your favourite lens?

I find my camera usually has my 50mm on it the most often... mind you I haven't been able to get out for many pics yet... brutally cold here in the winter usually, so that's mostly for indoor pics. Hoping for spring thaw soon though!

So which lens do you find yourself using most often?

Re: What is your favourite lens?

The most versatile lens I have which I'm familiar with - which I guess would make it my most used lens - I think would be my Nikkor 105mm macro lens.

I still have 3 new lenses I haven't tried out yet so I might have a new best friend after I've made the effort to take the camera out + about.

Re: What is your favourite lens?

Mainly because of my interest in bird photography it's the Canon 100-400 f5.6L. I use it mostly at the 400 mm end (350 mm actually.) But sometimes a bird decides to come in close like the robin when it's human watching and then the 100 mm end is a blessing.

I've just bought the Canon 50 mm f1.8. I've just done a comparison shot, definition only, with my canon 17/40 mm zoom set at 50 mm and both lenses at f5.6. The 50 mm is not bad at all but inferior to the 17/40 zoom.

C'mon Charlotte!

Get out three times taking only one of these three on each occasion. You can do it - there must be more opportunities where you live than where I live. Rob will back me up there.

That surprises me, as you expect primes to have the advantage. It defintely was the case for the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 here :- http://www.pixalo.com/community/phot...lens-6647.html

Re: What is your favourite lens?

I find that the 17-55DX is my "go-to" lens simply because it's eminently versatile; it covers the 35mm film equivalent of 25.5 - 82.5mm.

Other than that, my other favourite lens is my 28mm f/1.4... it's sharp as a tack and allows me to shoot without flash in a whole variety of situations.

Re: What is your favourite lens?

Most weekends in the summer it's the Canon EF 70-200mm f4L IS USM for the cycling. At the moment for landscapes it's my Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM, which I bought second hand just before Christmas, followed by my Sigma 10-20mm.

Re: What is your favourite lens?

For a long time my 50 f1.8 was my lens of choice I did everything with it as it forced me to move around rather than zoom around. For landscape I now use my 17-40L all the time and for some studio work, otherwise I use my cheap but nice results, Sigma 24-135 macro.
