Question What are your Photography Goals for next year

On Pixalo we have always had a great set of members who help each other improve their photography With that in mind, do you fancy sharing your photography goals for next year ? What do you want to achieve & how do you feel you will get there ?

I'll start the ball rolling

Goal 1 - Gather 20 prints for IBM Warwick Arts display
Within IBM , in conjuction with Warwick Arts they had a main corridor with a constant display of 20 Photographs by employees. This is seen by not only hundreds of employees, but also hundreds of customers . In 2nd week of Jan I have to show some of my prints to the comittee to see if I'm up to scratch for display. Need to get 20 shots chosen & printed if approved. Will go with a Mono collection if successful ....surprise surprise

Goal 2 - Sell some prints / images
2 avenues at the moment. If Goal 1 comes off I will ensure my personal website is updated & add facility for prints to be purchased. I can then advertise website as part of display. 2nd option is to put forward a collection to the likes of Alamy

Goal 3 - Is Wedding Photography a potential earner for me
Need to work as an assistant to a Wedding Photographer on a few occasions, to understand a) if I have what it takes to do the job & b) whether I would want to earn/supplement a living from it. Need to find pro photographer within 1 hr driving range of Cheltenham, Glos who would be willing to help . Anyone ?

Wish you well on the Wedding front, Dave. Me?

1 Just simply get out more and take my tripod with me.

2 Get the hang of using my flashgun

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

Mine is quite simple - to take more photographs. For many reasons, I just don't get the opportunity to get out with the camera.

I might even make this my New Year resolution. I feel a new thread coming..........

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

I've a few myself, let's see...

1/. Work on the website - Time constraints and my very limited website building ability have slowed this to a crawl recently, so I'd like to get this sorted... hopefully with more of Steve's website building (and saving, after I've messed it up ) help.

2/. Try out some new style's in photography - Namely Macro and Portrait, with so many excellent examples of these particular styles on Pixalo it's inspired me to want to have a go myself, unfortunately (or not ) that means a macro lens and a flash will have to be invested in.

3/. Brush up on my Photoshop skills - Once again seeing so many member's proficiency in this area has me thinking it's an area I need to improve on.

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

For me, mine are;
1) To do more "people" photography. I have a confidence problem about poking my lens at people so I'd like to better this year.
2) To improve my motorsport photography
3) To get some of my photos on the History Channels website I've done it once before so I'd like to it again.
4) Now that I have a super dooper flashgun it would be nice to use it properly!!!!
5) Sell a photo or two maybe...
I think that's me lot...
Good luck to all those that have posted so far, in fact good luck to all members with their goals next year

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

Next year is going to be very interesting for me in a number of ways I think. Photography wise there are a few things that I would like to do, but in the main I would like to work toward an FIAP or RPS recognition. From there, who knows!

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

My Goals
Work out how to put my Jessops ISO 100 film into my Olympus E300 Camera.
Find out the best way to put Developing fluid into my PC without it shorting out.
try to answer my burning question!! Why does EVERYONE take better photos than me.
Post some photos on this site for members to reconstruct the way they should be.

And hope to learn a lot more in the ways of seeing things through the lens rather than with my mind
Regards

Ahhhh, another year gone already
Goals for the year are to shoot more, shoot more, and shoot more. I MUST make time. Improve my digital workflow, and to do some assisting so I can learn from someone who is doing what I want to do.
I guess also to continue having fun with photography, afterall isn't this why we picked up the camera in the first place ?

Happy New Year everyone

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

1) Do a photo shoot with a model, either friend or hired. I am tired of shooting people with no control of lighting, poses, or surroundings.

2) Set up a booth at one of the local craft fairs. Some of my work is at least as good as some of the people there, I think. Still no guarantee I'd sell anything, of course, but it will get me out of the house.

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

Here in no particular order is my current list of goals for the coming year…

Do some research and find an efficient and fast workflow for my photography. Check out the available different software options for maximising my RAW workflow.

Re visit every one of my photos and sort out the wheat from the chaff, then catalogue the whole collection efficiently. This will also involve adding in a second computer and more storage space. The cataloguing will also need to include automatic comparisons of files/folders across the network and smart backups to ensure the whole collection is safe.

Submit and get more shots accepted by the recognised image libraries.

Redevelop my personal website (that has been stagnant for far too long) and hopefully increase the feedback from that outlet. It started so well…

Prepare all year for next years Christmas fairs, I intend to have a stall on one of the bigger markets in the run up to Christmas. Looking around this year has shown me that I can't help but make some serious money through that outlet if I am prepared when the time comes.

Take more pictures of everything. Without a big catalogue of quality images you have no substance to work with. This will also involve me trying out other photography styles and techniques that I personally may not like. Just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean there is no profit in that area!

Complete work on a new photography related project that has already begun, then see it through to being a success...more on that as it develops

I've been told by friends and family that I should do more with my photography like try n sell some of my work, or make a calendar of some of my photos for sale. So I guess my goal is to find out if my photography is good enough to be out there

My goals:
1) Try n sell some of my work (just t see if it's good enough to be accepted
2) Hopefully compile a calendar of some of my work for sale.
3) Meet other photographers

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

My goals are something like:
1) Stop wanting new equipment
2) Get more photos in starbucks (like that's a big claim to fame )
3) Learn how to use my D50 better still
4) Buy some lenses (DOH)
5) Get a flashgun (of for god's sake)
6) Actually go out and take pictures. I don't think I set aside one day or trip that was devoted to taking photos....

That's about it I think

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

a) Get better at people photography.
b) And find time to actually go out and practise and learn how to use certain settings, which this first half year will be a problem. I'm still doing a course and work and have kids. So rather busy period at the moment.

So my plans need to move to next year, cause once i've set up my mobile business, I get a bit of moving space again to do other things.

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

Ok, my plans are to....

First: Improve as much as I intended to in in 2001

Second: Improve as much as I intended to in 2002

Third: Improve as much as I intended to in 2003

Fourth: Be delighted that I have learnt so much....

Fifth: Learn what I intended to learn in 2004, 2005 and 2006.....

Sxth: To improve in ..... ah you get the picture!

Every year I want to improve more and every year I feel I make steps but not strides forward. I am certain though that remaining on Pixalo puts me in a good position to get a lot more improvement in my knowledge and skills than I have ever managed before :o)

Cheers,
Rob

Get more photos in starbucks
As in on the walls, or taking photos in, Starbucks?

Mine are:
Creating 'negatives' discs, with each shoot on a separate disc. (At the moment, whole categories are backed up to disc, which is painful to search through)

Getting a PhotoBook printed with my images in it.

Finishing the family photo calender before it's too late to give it to anyone. And before they miss out on the January photo!

And getting my gallery wall in my office completed.

Re: What are your Photography Goals for next year

My goal this year is to move from my safe haven of Model/fashion/glamour photography, into more commercial work such as weddings, familys, typical ports. I'm not too crazy about it, but it wouldn't be a goal if I were.
