Whats the first liveveiw Canon DSLR my post explains why I ask.

It doesn't particularly matter whether it's a full size 5d2 size body or the smaller 350d size body.

In fact the smaller version would be better for my needs.

Many moons ago ( pun intended ) I bought myself a telescope with fittings for a canon eos camera bodies.

Well seems to me a few peeps are getting interested so I dragged it out of it's obscurity from the back of a wardrobe and I'm going to have another play.

I've already found some great free sky watching software that I can computer control the scope with, if I can work out how.

Now I know I can tether shoot a Canon eos digital using EOS utility, but initially I'd like to use live view.

So.............................. whats the earliest model available with live view.

Pretty sure, 40D. And you may've found a practical use for Liveview - I've never found a use with the 40D and now the 7D (but then I've never found a practical use for video either!)

Re: Whats the first liveveiw Canon DSLR my post explains why I ask.

Thanks folks

Yes it appears it was the 40D, and guess who sold his minty low count 40D early this year, hey ho.

I use liveview for variuos things, I've even found that under certain circumstances I can focus my 100-400 better than the camera can ( 5D2 )

The astrophotography is in it's infancy at the moment, I've had the telescope about 2 years and it's hardly seen the light of day.

Crisper nights mean less clouds, although thats a joke at the moment but I like taking pictures of the moon.

The telescope works out roughly to a 1500mm f13 lens

How are you getting on with the scope?

I got the hang of the Goto system pretty easier really. Collomated my scope and everything. Love having a gadget that needs a tweak now and then. Let me know if I can help.

Re: Whats the first liveveiw Canon DSLR my post explains why I ask.

Here is a suggestion... try "USB Telescope" in google, and there are suggestions on how to use a Web-cam to make a USB home-brew Telescope....
Substitute whatever "Cheap" lens they use for yours, use a toilet roll or whatever to get the right focal length between lens and webcam, and see how you get on with that?....

Have you seen this software - it's for tracking and finding sky objects. It's free.

Cartes du ciel

My dad uses V2 - though I've just noticed V3 is finally out.
