What's the going rate for Pet portraits ?

After visiting the local Dog trimmers to get the Schnauzer & Tibetan Terrier clipped, I noticed they had a notice board in reception. When I asked the question if it was oK to put a flyer up for Dog portraits, the response was "Sure, we get lots of enquiries about photographing dogs"

Light bulb goes off in Dave's head

So , anyone here shoot Dog portraits ? How many use studio lights, portable lighting vs natural shots of Dogs in parks etc. How much do you charge ?

That means you are down to only one light on now (The others were turned out shortly after offering to swap Wife's Mini for a Freelander)

Why not phone some togs up to ask how much to photo your dogs?

Has the local shop got room for some example pics?

Do dogs get married? (another 'light bulb' moment) New avenue beckons.......

Depending on what they want, anywhere from £75 upwards (that's just to turn up!) - but I don't do studio shots as I go for the pet in his/her environment in order to bring out their character

Re: What's the going rate for Pet portraits ?

My set up sounds similar to that of Markulous.

I did come across a local photographer who only uses a studio setup - prices from £175.00 (single subject), plus a minimum print order of £50. It varies a lot - some charge a very low price for the shoot (if they charge at all), but they have huge print prices or have a minimum order set.
