What's in your bag?

I was just posting an addendum to a bag review and I mentioned that no camera bag should be without a couple of ball bungees. And that got me thinking there are a few useful things that are not photo related but get kept in the bag and can be very useful. I tend to carry a fair few things in my pocket anyway (Just in case) so I'd add a tiny multi too to this list if you don't have something like that about you.
I'll kick it off with my list.
Pencil and paper.
Cord
String
Metal wire
Bulldog clips
Gaffer tape, insulating tape, and toupee tape. I wrap these side by side on a old credit card and they take up no space.
Paper clips
A small torch.
Little screwdriver and allen key
Ball bungees.
A sewing kit and safety pins
Insect repellant wipes
A sachet of sun cream
The only thing I've never used is the screwdriver.
Over to you

I can't take the credit they are big on strobist but they get a lot of use they can hold a tripod to a bag (As I just discovered), a strobe to a branch or a tripod leg. It can put someones hair up or hold branches out of the way. Alternatively it's good for sticking a Gobo or makeshift snood on a flash or with the bulldog clip a reflector or or or .

Apparently though it is frowned upon to use them with the gaffer tape when photographing children.

Re: What's in your bag?

What's in my bag? As little as possible - camera - couple of lenses - extention tubes - cleaning gear - spare cards and battery. The temptation is to take everything you have got with you, just in case and you end up like a pack horse!

Re: What's in your bag?

I'm with Jake! I have the camera (which is a 'bridge' camera, so no other lenses required), spare rechargeable batteries and spare memory cards! That's it!
Best of all, as it all fits into a fairly small camera bag, that in turn fits into my handbag and so I always have my camera with me!! No more risk of missed photo opportunities!

Re: What's in your bag?

Nothing really out of the ordinary for me either...well maybe ony a black poly rubbish bag or two (empty of course). I find them handy if I need to kneel down while taking a shot, kneeling on the poly bag on the saves wet muddy knee and they scrunch up and take no space at all.

Re: What's in your bag?

Depends on the bag

Typically: 1 camera with lens, lenshood, 1 spare battery, 2 spare cards, remote cable. That's it.

Don't find I need anything more for 99% of shots.

Re: What's in your bag?

If I CBA'd to get up in the morning (meant to be clear and frosty):
3 x cameras to cover landscape (sunrise), macros (frosty bits) and IRs (sunrisen!) with suitable lenses + 300mm & 1.4x TC for wildlife. Tripod, monopod, few batts/CF cards. 3 x gloves: skinnies, fingerless mitts and wind/waterproof mitts (fingers are what always suffer), hat, balaclava, thermals, waterproof trousers, etc

There again I might have a lie in!

Possibly the most important post you will ever read!! The first is a dock leaf the second is a nettle if you do need to use one as ad-hoc toilet paper I cannot stress enough, avoid the latter.
