Red face wireless triggers/recievers

Hi

I have a sunpak pf30x dedicated to a canon 400d, i've just received a flash remote trigger/receiver from china....which is also dedicated to the canon 400d, but it will not fire the flash, it will fire any "none" dedicated flash but not the pf30x ? .

Has any pixalo member come across this problem or have any ideas/solutions to this problem.

Re: wireless triggers/recievers

All of the wireless triggers I've used are literally just triggers. Not dedicated to any camera.

What trigger are you using?

Re: wireless triggers/recievers

I have just bought a wireless trigger with two receivers from Hong Kong for 16. They are just triggers and non dedicated. My flashgun is a Vivitar 285 which is more than 25 years old and I have not used it for some time. At some time in the future I may invest in a dedicated flashgun but this will cost around 200+ from Canon with the best part of 200 for a dedicated wireless trigger. I shall see how I get on with the 285 as I was happy with it years ago.

Re: wireless triggers/recievers

I purchased this wireless remote trigger off ebay and it doesn't actually have a name but it stated it was dedicated to the canon 400d.

After a little bit of researching this problem it seems that a few flash guns, including one of the canon flashguns and the one I have, seem to have a problem with high power batteries and I'm just trying to figure out how to reduce the power from the batteries.

So have you tried the flash with ordinary batteries? If it still does not work it is not the batteries. That has to be better and quicker than spending time trying to figure out how to reduce the power in the other batteries.

Re: wireless triggers/recievers

I've found this quote below, which makes me wonder if the 400d has the same problem so buying another trigger/receiver may be pointless at this time but will have to purchase another flash unit & do a lot more reserch into the product.

Be a little careful with your choice of flashgun. I've got a sunpak pf30x for my 450d that is a great cheap basic speedlight copy. It doesn't work with the wireless triggers i have recently bought. There are occasional issues with flash voltage and wireless triggers. Have a google before you buy.

Re: wireless triggers/recievers

I wouldn't mind trying some of the yongnuo rf 602 at a football match on a camera behind the goal.

Re: wireless triggers/recievers

cheap as chips PE, they really are an excellent buy, i got one trigger and two receivers then bought another trigger and receiver for the other camera. and that leaves me with a trigger spare,...... also works with nikon flashes no probs as my tog buddy shoot mikon and has the same set.... means we can use either of our flashes when set on the same channel we can both trigger them. gives us 4 off camera flashes is necessary that both canon and nikon cams can trigger

Re: wireless triggers/recievers

I picked up a set of these on Fiona's recommendation, 35 delivered for 1 transmitter and 2 receivers is a steal, means I can use an old Nikon Speedlite with my Canon set up, that would have otherwise sat on the shelf and made lighting portraits a breeze.
