Yongnuo speedlight

Hi, I have a Canon 600d and a 5d MK i or classic, has anyone got any advice or infromation regarding these cameras and the yongnuo flash range. Any comments or advice would be welcome as I am in need of speedlight, but Canons are expensive and youngnuo seem very reasonably priced.

Re: Yongnuo speedlight

Yongnuo not only have a good specification, but they also update their flashguns regularly. A lot of people rate them - including our member Silver - and this thread discusses them:

http://www.pixalo.com/community/flas...one-50108.html

David Hobby (Strobist) rates the Lumopro LP160:

http://www.pixalo.com/community/news...gun-39308.html

But he has also tested the Yongnuo too

Strobist: Test Drive: Yongnuo YN-560

This test is of the 560, but now it is in mkIII guise.

Re: Yongnuo speedlight

the 560 is a manual flash and I have both mark 1+2 versions , friends have the 430 - again manual flash, the 560 mark iii is out now and people I know seem to like it, some info at Yongnuo YN560-III released, with special offer for readers | Lighting Rumours - the 560's I have are really very good,. well put together and cost next to nothing

if you're looking for your first flash then perhaps you might be looking for a flash with more auto modes (i.e. will work out the exposure for you and apply the right amount of flash) - that being the case Yongnuo also make ittl type units - both for nikon and canon, I have never tried one of these flashes but have heard good things from friends

Re: Yongnuo speedlight

Hi bbarney, I got a pair of Yongnuo 460 Mk11 manual flash guns and 3 recievers and a transmitter, plus Novoflex off camera bracket, for use with my eos 1 series cameras, and after a bit of faffing around got them synched and found them well made and they worked well. However I have never used them as I had quite a significant accident that has left me with restricted mobility, so I cant give you a user report. Charles

Re: Yongnuo speedlight

A member of my Camera Club has a number of expensive flash guns and studio equipment but recently bought a couple of Yongnuo YN 560's (45 each). He was strongly recommending this manual flash and suggested the build quality is good. I had a quick look and have more or less decided to buy one. I only hesitate because I rarely use a flashgun. I am not familiar with other flashguns in their range but they are definitely worth considering.

if you want a manual flash with a reasonable amount of power then get one,. they are the best "bang for buck" camera stuff I've ever bought (now have 5 of them!)

Re: Yongnuo speedlight

Thanks for the help everyone. I think the manual route with triggers is the way to go and for 45 it's not a massive risk.

if you want manual settings and triggers then yes do it,. note if you go with the 560 mk III it has a wireless receiver built in - more details at Yongnuo YN560-III flashgun announced with built-in 2.4GHz radio | Lighting Rumours

ittl is handy if you are moving around a lot and the flash is attached to the camera but for many uses manual and wireless triggers are good

PS, if you are looking for triggers then I would also suggest the yongnuo rf602's or 603's (I have/use the 602s and they are perfect)

Re: Yongnuo speedlight

That is quite impressive! Fair play to YongNuo for developing the product from where they started. That was where my impressions of their flashguns came from - particularly the issue of inconsistency.

Re: Yongnuo speedlight

i have one YONGNUO tn 560 and i do love it..

it works perfectly as a slave flash or as the main flash in your shooting session! In addition, its easiness and set up precision make it a top of the line value to cost item..

i am thinking about getting another flash, this time a manual one to save some €!!

cheers

Re: Yongnuo speedlight

Thanks for all the input from everyone. As I've mentioned I have a 5d mark 1 and 600d, does anybody use the 560 with these particular bodies. I have also not been able to find the mark 111 youngnuo anywhere loads of mark 1 and 11 though still trying to find out about compatability issues (if any) with the bodies I have.

Re: Yongnuo speedlight

560 will work with Nikon or Canon note its a manual flash so you set your own power level the 5d has a flash sync port which you could use to plug in a wireless trigger or use a rf602/603 on the hotshoe of either
