Re: in your dreams

A Nikon D3 with a 24mp FF sensor which drops to 12mp in DX mode whilst retaining all the noise handling capabilities, coupled with a 14-300mm f/2 lens which retains IQ throughout the range.

Too much to ask for?

Re: in your dreams

I know this is not the answer to you r question but - It does not exist. I want a full frame DSLR with most of the bells and whistles but which is the same size and weight as the OM1 and OM2 I still have but never use.

Re: in your dreams

I'd like to add a decent length macro lens and a 100-400 (non push=pull) L lens (if Canon made one) to my equipment list, but body wise I am sticking with my retro 20D

Re: in your dreams

Hasselblad H3DII-31 with 80mm lens (£9,995) , which I reckon would be pretty good for portraits

Re: in your dreams

Hmm, maybe the Sigma DP1 - a bit of an indulgence to have a P&S just for landscapes (even if it does produce wonderful ones!) which is all I'd use it for. I'll add that this is on my wish list (tho' pretty far down!)

Re: in your dreams

I,m not happy with my Camera, dont know why, it seams to be missing things, I used to have a fuji 602z, what a little baby this was, for its size and functions it could work miracles, you know when you drive a car and it feels perfect, My Nikon seemed to be the best choice for the money, but I dont know if its the lenses or because of the cheap manufacturing within the model, I cant say because I have never owned anything higher priced, I have the knowledge, but the camera feels as if its letting me down, ?Is it the lenses, mmmh, If I really did have more money than sense, would I choose Nikon again, it seemed to be the most obvious choice, but now im having second thoughts, next time maybe a Lecia for quality of build, as anyone else felt this with the cheaper end of the market?, or is it just me stuck in a photographic depression, meaning, I work with people, weddings, etc, should I be looking more at a diversion with my camera, even though I have a proffesional qualification in a way, lrps, City & Guilds, which dont mean anything to me, I just picked them up whilst doing what I wanted to do' am I enjoying playing with the camera, I dont know, something does not feel right, Maybe I should hire another Camera, and see....making the best of what one has.
Using a very high price camera as got to have an effect on ones mood, and new life comes to everyone, especially when you get a new toy!, Maybe Nikon will lend me there top Camera for a week, and send me on some exotic location, and then we will see if money really does matter.

I couldn't agree more, I still have mine As for dream kit I would like a 100-400, push-pull zoom, updated IS with a constant 2.8

Re: in your dreams

Like Stephano's idea of a constant f2.8 100-400, I'd certainly trade mine in to get one of those.
Luckily, at the moment I have my dream camera, but would like a 300mm f2.8 lens. But that's not going to happen any time in the near future

Re: in your dreams

wow i didnt know this would get a five star rating i was just snooping to see if i could find out if there was one camera that the majority would choose. i have to admit i would probably have a canon 1d mk3 with a 200-500mm with amazing macro technology just for the choice of picture

Re: in your dreams

In an ideal world, I would have the D3 with a 17x55mm nikkor lens. And a 100x400mm lens.

But as for now, I'm pretty happy with what I've got. Ideally for me, I would like to do an indepth photocourse and then see what I can produce. Better gear wouldn't get me anywere at this moment!

Re: in your dreams

I'd quite like to do a photography A level, but have to admit that the film side of it puts me off. I did film and developing at school in the photography club years ago. Also I'd just like to have an A level as Mum & Dad didn't let me stay on at school to do Art in 6th form, I had to go out and get an office job instead
