Calender

Ok I've had another idea probably a hair brained one but sounds good in my head

One area of the site that i feel is thoroughly under used is the calender section, accessible via the quick links drop down menu. Surely this area could be better utilised, i notice that all it contains is members b-days, now that's fine but a good majority of them have never contributed to the forums.

Why not use the calender as a sort of pixalo diary listing different achievements, member of the month, photo of the week etc.... Now one way this would be highly beneficial is take Skipper for example he's been off for awhile and what better way to catch up would be to have a browse through the calender and quickly see who's been doing what. Other things you could add is members photographic achievements outside of pixalo, i know Dave and Gary had recent exhibitions definately a good way to mark these events (achievements) would be listing them in the calender.

Listing major photographic events like Focus on Imaging and other important events as well.

Still keep peoples b-days but only list them after say 100 post that way you don't over crowd it with one week members. And Obviously every entry would be approved by a mod. Then make it more accessible than it is, i'm sure some members dont even know its there.

Hair brained or a possibility???

Personally I think it would be great if members took to this and utilised it in that way.

The members birthdays are automatically inserted into the calendar by the software. I have no real intention of coding conditionals around that function to make it display them only after so many posts or any other variable that we might like. I would urge you just to look past that small point.

One other thing..if you (the members) do start to use the calendar in the manner outlined it will automatically show events/dates/entries at the bottom of the foum homepage...so that everyone will notice stuff

Sotelo, towards the top of the page, just under your Private Messages notification box, you will see "Quick Links", click on that and it will show you a dropdown menu with all sorts of goodies on it! Scroll down and you'll see the calendar option.
