Hiya,

Although I'm new to this place, I'm not all that new to photography and internet forums.

In the past, I've organised quite a few "meets", basically a few of us get together and go to a place, have a coffee, take some photos, have some more coffee and sometimes finish up with a curry.

Previous trips have included Chester Zoo, Bolton Abbey, York, The media museum in Bradford (followed by a walk in the park and a curry), and a special Wild Arena Knowsley Safari park experience thingy.

I was wondering if there was any scope for trying a similar thing out here, I'm not sure whether it would warrant it's own forum but some of the posts do tend to get lost if they are placed somewhere like general chat.

Its just a suggestion, I'd be interested in hearing if anyone would be interested in anything like this, I know there are people who are members here and have been on one or two of my trips before. I'm not wanting to create ripples in the water, just sounding out an idea.

The only problem with meets tend to be that you get quite a few people posting up similar shots, but all in all its a great day out.

An events forum would also allow people to knock up a thread about an event they might be going to and seeing if anyone else is going from here?

Fiona tried to organise a meet late last year in Scotland, but it got tangled up with other things - a bank holiday or something - so it never took off in the end. Rob and Fiona did have a meet when he had a short break in Scotland.

I think there are a number of members who would be interested in a meet-up, so if you want to get one off the ground, feel free. I'm not sure if there is the capability to make a new section on the board, but we could make a thread a 'sticky' to keep it at the top of the list in general chat if it is agreed by everyone.

Sounds like your previous ones have been well supported.

What about a 'What's on Diary'? Then people can post dates of events in their area that others may not know about. I'll kick it off with the Cheshire County Show on the 19th & 20th June at Tabley near Knutsford, Cheshire. I've been there before and it's a well organised event with plenty of photographic opportunities. Weather permitting I hope to attend on the Wednesday (20th June.) LINKY

i have recently been on a meet organised frm another forum and it was a great day out.......... was also on another one last year down in the lakes..... another great day out. my problem is that no one up here seems to want to do one.
unfortunately nowadays i dont have my own transport unless Alan my partner is not at work and he is a student on placement so does shifts ( all and any hours)..... so getting to anything further afield for me is pretty difficult.
i am down in cornwall for a fortnight in a couple of weeks so if anyone down that area wants to meet up gimme a shout!
i am also in Berwick twice a year ( March and october) but the maority of that time is spent playing darts and getting rat a**ed.
but if i can get to anything i will!
