Review Section???
Just putting this out there to see if anyone(other than myself) would like to see a "Review Section". I'm not just talking about the nice high end stuff, but also include the inexpensive $100 digicam & what not for those just getting started. If everyone wrote up a review for a particular camera they own, giving its pros & cons & some minor technical info, I bet we'd have a nice array of hardware for folks to browse through to aid in their search for gear.
Anyway... just a thought. Eric |

I doubt very much if we, as amateurs would have the time or experience to re-create reviews of our equipment to that level but would welcome any personal “insights” into any equipment you own and feel like reviewing. We already have a “Tutorials, links and reviews” section on the forums where they can be dropped into and if they are of an exceptionally high standard we would also consider them for the review section on the main site.

Steve I think it's exactly us 'as amateurs' that should be reviewing the kit we buy. Our long term real world experience with lenses, cameras and the rest is far better than some guy who has the use of it for a day and has to give it back.

From there we will consider each review, and if suitable for the main site we will ask permission to use it. We are happy to then copy and format it for display. I agree that personal hands on reviews are often much more valid for the average user and we can gain much more real world, useful information from those, that’s partly why I wrote so much about my “upgrade experience” when I changed from the 10D to 20D. |

Re: Review Section???
I totally agree with the feedback of us so called amateurs. I have not been very impressed with many magazine reviews concerned with photographic technical equipment. They only "play with them for a few days and largely miss the durability aspect of the device and do not notice the irritating aspects. Also I defy most people to understand all of the curves associated with Lens reviews. I take more notice of the Pixalo members feedback once I have made up a short list of what I may purchase. One thing I didn't report on the Canon 350d I reviewed, is that my nose constantly triggers the burst shutter mode button!!!.(My big nose with left eye viewing) Regards Brian Wright. A Merry Christmas ( it this politically correct) to all you Amateur photographers

You'll note the PC brigade never say we should stop people commemorating Yom Kippur, Diwali or Ramadan. Ironically, I am told it would 'not be PC to suggest Diwali should not be celebrated!' I have loads of Jewish, Hindu and Moslem friends and I have never met a single one who thinks Christmas is offensive. indeed, They get really angry that they are portrayed as people who are offended by such things when they seek only to live in peace with the rest of society. So, I wish you a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS, with all the festivities that go with it. May it be a time of joy for you and all your family. Cheers, Rob
