Signatures.

I am not going to ask a stupid question about why signatures do not always appear as I have read the FAQ's (actually I have been reading for 2 days and have not seen one signature yet!), but I really enjoy reading the posts and then reffering to someones flickr account to look at their photostream (easily accessed on another forum I belong to - but not as good as this one

). I realise that we have a Gallery feature on this forum, but Flickr is the most widely used photographic community in the world, apparently, and I am really disappointed that I cannot access everyones photographs.

I guess what I'm asking is, can we not see signatures all the time, but restrict their size to say 1 line?

Pixalo runs conditional signatures. That is they only appear when there are sufficient characters to trigger a signature (don't ask me how many...) On top of this, your signature will only appear once in a thread.

Reason being is to keep the post sizes down so you don't have to scroll excessively when a thread is made up of short posts, as most threads are.

Members are allowed to include two links to their web sites in their signatures as well as text or a graphic, so if we restricted signatures to one line it would restrict this facility.

Members can add the url of their flickr accounts (or any of their web sites) to their profile in their user CP if they choose, then it will appear in their public profile that you can access by clicking on their username.

There has been many debates on signature content and size. What we currently offer has been widely accepted as a good trade off between them being intrusive and useful.

As to links to your Flickr account, it can be included in your signature as you have already done and whenever your post contains enough information to trigger the signature, it will be shown. Much better than restricting the number of lines down to one and reducing other people's (who don't choose to use flickr) options.

Thanks for the replies. The one line option was just a very quick suggestion becaue I was under the impression that it was a question of space which was the issue.
